New Museum exhibitions – Felix Hall and Art & Design in our villages
Feering and Kelvedon Local History Museum has some new displays namely Felix Hall and Art & Design in our two villages.
The history of Felix Hall is long and its has had many significant owners over the centuries. One of the owners of Felix Hall was Milner Gray, a major commercial designer in the mid-late 1900’s. A gent whose portraits can be found in the National Portrait Gallery who along with his team created many designs and logos you would recognise from British Rail to Queen Elizabeth II’s Jubilee. Today we still have close links with the trade of commercial design with W3 Designs based in the Old Quaker Meeting House in Kelvedon.
Staying with art and design, this year is the 250th anniversary of the birth of John Constable the artist best known for his painting of The Hay Wain also had close links to Feering including making sketches of the village.
The museum is open every Saturday morning from 9.30 til 12.30 and on Mondays from 2pm until 5 from March until October except Bank Holidays.
