About the Society

Our members are primarily but not exclusively, residents in our two villages. Members do not have to own historic properties nor is there a requirement to have knowledge on local history or the environment, what they do have in common is an interest in our two villages and their environs.

Below are the highlights from the Society’s constitution which outlines the aims of the organisation:

The Society is established for the public benefit for the following purposes in the area comprising the parishes of Kelvedon and Feering in the County of Essex.

To secure the heritage of the villages of Kelvedon and Feering by the preservation, conservation, protection, and improvement of:

The villages of Kelvedon and Feering and property of historic and architectural interest, merit or importance situated therein and elsewhere within

the area of benefit.

The rural and urban landscape comprising the residue of the area of benefit and features of archaeological, ecological, environmental, historic, or
public interest or importance situated therein.

To promote high standards of planning and architecture in or affecting the area of benefit and in particular to ensure that alterations and additions to buildings within the said area are carried out with due deference to the style of the existing architecture thereof and character of the surrounding area.

To educate the public in the archaeology, history, and architecture of the area of benefit.
