Annual Photographic Competition 2024

The 14th Annual Photographic Competition has now been judged and the winners are as follow:

First:       “Tree with a view” by Dave Clarke

Second:  “Green and Gold” by Graham Womack

Third:      “Dawn mist” by Jane Jupp

Additionally, the following were classified as Highly Commended:

“A shady spot” by Paul Gilbert

“The Aliens are coming!” by Anne Townley

“Nature’s palette” by Dave Clarke.

The Society established the competition in 2010 to encourage local amateur photographers – of all ages – to records aspects of our two villages, such as the historic buildings, landscape, agriculture and relates industries. Whilst these broad (and unchanged) criteria have led to a wonderfully varied range of entries over the past thirteen years, a number of entrants expressed a preference for year year’s competition to have instead a more specific individual ‘theme’ and as announced in March 2023, the Society has agreed to this.

Accordingly, for this years 2024 competition the theme (as the main or key component of each photograph) was ‘trees’. The established geographical and time limitations will continue to apply to ensure the competition retains its flavour as a ‘contemporary record’ of the continually evolving landscape in this locality.

The entries from the 2024 competition are now on display in Feering & Kelvedon Local History Museum and as with previous years a calendar is currently being produced using photographs submitted. This will be available in September.
