From time to time the Society will become aware of local events run by other organisations which we think may be of interest to our members and the details will be posted here.

Feering and Kelvedon Local History Museum 50th Anniversary Event
This year marks the 50th anniversary of the opening of our local history museum and to mark the occasion an event is being held on Sunday 6th April between 12pm and 4pm.
There will be free Heritage Bus rides throughout the afternoon. Collect your souvenir bus ticket in the museum or library car park. No pre booking is required.
Grand opening by a famous local historian.
Do go along and join the team celebrating 50 years of serving the village communities. Learn more bout our two villages and their inhabitants from a bygone age. See historic photographs and learn some fun facts.

Please be aware that whilst the museum can be accessed by wheelchairs and limited disabled parking will be available on the day, we regret that the classic buses providning the rides cannot accommodate child buggies and do not allow for disabled access.
Thursday 8th May & Friday 9th May 2025
VE Day 80th Anniversary Event at the United Reform Church, High Street, Kelvedon
May 8th 2025 marks the 80th anniversary of the end of the Second World War in Europe and across the country events are being planned to mark this occasion. Kelvedon Parish Council are leading in the local events and there will be a display running over the two days in the URC which is being compiled by local groups including the British Legion, Heritage Society and Museum. The exhibition and event will be open as follows:
Thurs 8th May 10am to approx. 9.00pm when there will be a short ceremony of hymns, prayers, readings plus the lighting of a commemorative lantern. This will be followed at 9.30pm by a procession from the URC to the War Memorial in the church yard of St Mary’s Parish Church for a short Act of Remembrance.
Fri 9th May 10am to 4pm the exhibition will be open.
On both days light refreshments will be available in the URC.
The full programme of events and confirmation of the timings will be advertised nearer the time by Kelvedon Parish Council.
Over the ensuing weekend (10-11 May) there will be other activities including a 1940’s themed event at the Institute so do look out for more details nearer the time.
National Garden Scheme 2025
As ever there will be some beautiful gardens open across the country under the National Garden Scheme. Local ones include: Feeringbury Manor and Great Braxted Park, then slightly further afield there are others including Oak Farm and Jankes House at Wakes Colne.
