A12 Expansion

For some years there have been plans to expand the A12 to create three lanes for much of the route between Chelmsford and Colchester along with the closure of some junctions and the creation of new ones. This is particularly relevant around Kelvedon and Feering where both existing junctions would close with a new one created nearer to Inworth allowing improved access to Tiptree and so potentially easing traffic coming through the two villagers heading that way.

Those works are due to start soon and the Society as ever has been trying to maintain a watching brief and inform our members of any key developments as we become aware of them.

To see more about what such developments look like during the works head along to our local museum Feering & Kelvedon Local History Museum where there is a photographic display taken originally by a local farmer whose land were being developed over 50 years ago when the A12 bypass was first built and then added to by one of the museum stewards who returned (as close as possible) to those same spots 50 years later and took more photographs. The museum is in the Ayletts Building, Maldon Road, Kelvedon adjacent to the library and is open every Saturday morning from 9.30 to 12.30 and then again Monday afternoons from 2 til 5 from March to October.
